Biography
Born:
1961 in Bedford, England.
Education: Foundation in art at Great Yarmouth
college of Art and Design 1979 going on to graduate with a Batchelor
of Arts Degree in Glass Design from North Staffordshire Polytechnic
in 1983.
In 1984 I started a business designing and making
stained glass.
In the following years, after gaining recognition
through the local and national press and television, the business
grew and increasingly began to incorporate not only design work
but also restoration.
From 1984 onwards I have continued to increase my
knowledge and expertise of both architectural and sculptural art
glass and I was invited to display work in the Second International
Exhibition of Stained Glass at the Centre International du Vitrail
in Chartres, France, in 1989. The association with this distinguished
centre for glass design also included my participation in Summer
Universities in 1992 and 95 in which my interests in design development,
kiln formed and painting techniques were expanded.
Other exhibitions have included :-
- Glass '83 Coleridges Gallery. Highgate, London.
- Stained Glass Museum. Ely Cathedral. 1986-87
- 'A Decade of Glass' Pilkington Glass Museum. St. Helens,
Merseyside. 1987
- 'Looking East' Koblenz, Germany. 1991
Although in recent years I have gained accreditation
from the British Society of Master Glass Painters and the United
Kingdom Institute of Conservators I continue to develop my ideas
with sculptural form using glass, wood, metal and ceramics in abstract
and figurative works.
